In view of providing the best services to its customers, Emtel Ltd, a pioneer in the mobile cellular telephone industry in Mauritius as well as the whole Southern Hemisphere, has embarked itself into developing a Total Quality model for benchmarking itself against world-class standards.
Emtel appointed BSI (British Standards Institution) as assessor for its quality system in order to target the highest benchmarks.
BSI is a worldwide certifying institute with the most number of certificates issued in the world. BSI has been the founder of the ISO standards.
Obtaining such a recognition from BSI in November 2003, Emtel Ltd has today set the benchmark in Mauritius and in the Indian Ocean islands as the first Telecommunication company for having successfully obtained certification with BSI and having surpassed the requirements of ISO 9001:2000. Yet another First from Emtel.
Emtel strongly believes that its achievement will with no doubt benefit its valued customers and the country in general. One of the core values of Emtel is to participate in the socio-economic development of the country. Within the company, Emtel has trained its entire workforce towards the practice of quality and has a team of internal auditors to self-monitor its quality management system.
Year 2009 saw the successful upgrade of Emtel Ltd to the ISO 9001:2008 certification. This achievement has again propelled Emtel Ltd ahead of competition and indicates its commitment towards continually improving its services for its customers.
